Turkish President Meets Hungarian Prime Minister in Ankara

Turkish President, Recep Tayyip Erdogan met with Hungary’s Prime Minister Viktor Orban in Ankara, Thursday, (16/3/2023). Orban was in Turkiye attending a summit of the organization of turkic states.
The Hungarian Premier’s trip to the nato country coincides with that of Finland’s President, Sauli Niinisto, who is also visiting Turkiye, and is scheduled to meet with Erdoga, Friday. Hungary and Turkiye are the only two NATO member countries, that haven’t yet approved Sweden and Finland’s bids to join the western military alliance.
The nordic neighbors dropped their long-standing military neutrality, and sought nato membership in may in response to russia’s war in Ukraine.
Previously, Sweden’s Prime Minister acknowledged that, it is likely Finland will join NATO before his country does, due to Turkey’s opposition to the swedish bid.
