Anthony Sinisuka Gintings men's singles qualified for the second round of All England 2023, after defeating Thailand's Representative Kantaphon Wangcharoen.
Anthony, who is the third seed, contributed to his opponent two straight games 21-17 and 21-19 at Utilita Arena Birmingham, England on Tuesday March 14 Evening. This victory also sharpened the Indonesian record over Wangcharoen to 6-3. This is also Anthony's second win over the same opponent this year after The India Open.
World number one Viktor Axelsen survived a first set blip as he navigated his way into the second round. Axelsen, who has won the super 1000 event twice including last year, fell to a first-set loss against Lee Cheuk Yiu in Birmingham, but rallied to win the next two 21-15 and 21-11.
Meanwhile, the defending men's doubles champions, Bagas Maulana and Muhammad Shohibul Fikri of Indonesia, started their title defence with a victory against South Korea's, Kim Gi Jung and Kim Sa Rang, by 21-15, 13-21, 21-16.
